Japanese Lifestyle Brand Standard Products Arrives in Canberra: Grand Opening 6 December 2025

After a popular launch in Sydney and Melbourne, the minimalist Japanese lifestyle brand is bringing its curated home and lifestyle range to Canberra at Westfield Belconnen.

Canberra, Australia - Daiso Industries (Australia) Pty Ltd is excited to announce the arrival of Standard Products, a Japanese lifestyle brand operated by DAISO INDUSTRIES CO., LTD. The brand will soft open its first Canberra store at Westfield Belconnen on Wednesday, 3rd December, with the official grand opening on Saturday, 6 December 2025 at 9 am, alongside the reopening of Daiso Japan following recent renovations.

To celebrate on Saturday, 6 December, customers are invited to enjoy a day of special opening festivities, including:

  • Exclusive Opening Gift: The first 100 Westfield members in line will receive a signature Standard Products Juco tote bag.

  • Gacha Machine: Spend $35 or more at Standard Products and Daiso Japan to spin and win a mystery prize.

  • Taste of Japan: Sample popular Japanese snacks and drinks throughout opening day.

A New Standard in Everyday Living

Standard Products offers a carefully curated range of home and lifestyle essentials designed with simplicity, quality, and practicality in mind. With a focus on neutral tones and timeless design, the brand reimagines everyday items to be “a little better,” bringing calm and comfort into daily life.

Standard Products has been recognised for its thoughtful product designs, with several products winning Good Design Awards. Behind each product at Standard Products lies a story of craftsmanship and heritage from across Japan. Cutlery is produced in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, an area renowned worldwide for its fine metalwork. Makeup brushes are handmade in Kumano Town, Hiroshima Prefecture, where brush-making traditions trace back to the Edo period and are highly regarded by professional makeup artists around the world. Knives are forged in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, where over 800 years of sword-making history continue to shape the art of Japanese blades today.

Standard Products Expansion in Australia

With back-to-back interstate openings this year following the Melbourne opening earlier on 15 November, Standard Products continues to expand its footprint in Australia, offering a new way for shoppers to experience Japanese lifestyle and design firsthand.

Canberra’s Belconnen community has already shown strong enthusiasm for Japanese retail. When Daiso Japan opened its first Canberra store at Westfield Belconnen last year, long lines formed throughout the day as customers came to explore the fun range that Daiso Japan offers.

The Standard Products Canberra store will open as a duo-brand concept, allowing customers to simultaneously explore both Standard Products and Daiso Japan under the one roof.

“We are delighted to bring Standard Products to Canberra,” said a spokesperson for Daiso Industries (Australia) Pty Ltd. “Following the excitement of our Sydney and Melbourne openings, we look forward to introducing Canberra to the essence of Japanese design and craftsmanship. Standard Products offers thoughtfully designed items that make everyday life a little better, and we’re excited to share that with the Canberra community.”
